One day soon, far too soon, Angelo Bissessarsingh will no longer be telling us about ourselves.
Diagnosed with terminal cancer last year, here is a man who, in an excruciatingly honest and intimate public journal on his medical progress, has done more to bring attention to the disease than all the fetes and 5K fund-raisers ever could, giving fans and friends the inside view on what it is to know the quantum of time one has left.
All of this and still he carried on, sharing his research on history and his opinion on troubled Trinidad and Tobago, this man not yet 34 years old, but witty beyond his years, satirising modernity, de-constructing us, with an impeccable command of the English language and an enviable memory, teaching thousands about long time, using, of all things, the newest platform–social media.
