The Delhi government report on JNU incident gives a clean chit to JNSU president Kanhaiya and Umar Khalid. However, it has blamed Anirban, Ashutosh and ‘outsiders of Kashmiri descent’ for raising pro-Afzal slogans and anti-India slogans. The Delhi government is now weighing legal options to look into the case.
Major findings of the report:
- No witness or any other evidence was found on Kanhaiya delivering any anti-national speech.
- Umar Khalid was the main organiser of the event. He is known for his views of Kashmir’s self determination. Had organised many such programmes in past. He raised slogans like, “Kashmir ki janta sangharsh karo, hum tumahare saath hai.”
- Anirban and Ashutosh were present with Umar. Security staff of JNU claims to identify their voices and slogans raised by them possibly, “Afzal ki hatya nahi sahenge.”
- Many outsiders of Kashmiri descent seen in videos shouting pro-Afzal and anti-India slogans. Many have their faces covered. They should be immediately identified for further investigation. Possibly two of these students are form JNU and administration would be working to bring them to the books. -more at India Today
