TS and Maharashtra to share river waters amicably

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been invited by his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis to Mumbai on March 8 for the signing of an accord between Telangana and Maharashtra over construction of irrigation projects, mainly Kaleswaram lift-irrigation, on Godavari, Penganga and Pranahita rivers.

A release said Mr. Rao would leave on March 7 evening with Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao and officials to complete the formalities for the barrages on Penganga at Rajapet, Chanakha – Korata and Penpahad, on Pranahita at Tammidihatti in Adilabad district and on Godavari at Medigadda in Karimnagar district.

Mr. Fadnavis informed Mr. Rao that Maharashtra did not have any objection to the barrages as they were of use to farmers of both States, the release added.
