Safe birth, sound shrine

Suitengu shrine in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, where worshipers pray for safe childbearing, opened to the media Tuesday after its buildings were reconstructed and seismic isolation work completed. The shrine, which will celebrate the 200th anniversary of its tutelary deity’s enshrinement in 1818, can now be used as an evacuation point in emergencies.
