Top British group to set up international school in Vizag

Top British group Anglo Schools International Services (ASIS) will set up its school in Visakhapatnam at an initial investment of Rs 100 crore.

The school to be set up in 15 acres will be the second of its kind in India. Last year the British group has opened its first school in Rohtak, Haryana at a whopping Rs 150 crore investment.

ASIS is an educational services company that specialises in pupil and student recruitment for British schools and universities.ASIS also facilitates teacher training programmes for schools outside the UK.

The Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (INCAP) proposed an international school at Visakhapatnam in PPP mode at Adavivaram, where the government has also proposed 15 acres of land for the purpose. “The AP chief mi nister has envisioned establishing world-class international schools in all major cities, starting with Visakhapatnam, Nellore and Tirupati, where huge investments are expected in IT, maritime, tourism, industry and infrastructure sectors, “ said G S Madhav Rao, mentor for the proposed school.

The school, officials said, will also draw international students and courses in International General Certificate of Secondary Education under the Cambridge International Examinations Board as well as the IB (International Baccalaureate) syllabus. “The curriculum will have a broad range of subjects to choose from inclu ding the CBSE and activities like meditation. The curriculum deals with a lot of international developments and will help students understand the world through a global perspective,“ said M Krishna Rao, secretary , Priyadarshini Education Society, which will set up the proposed school in partnership with the British group.

The residential school to be operational from 2017 will have an intake of 2,000 students and a fee structure of Rs 3 lakh per annum.
