HYDERABAD: The Telangana government informed the High Court on Thursday that it would restore the website in three weeks to enable the public to access various GOs issued by it.
Government counsel Nazeeb Khan made this submission before justice PV Sanjay Kumar who was dealing with a petition filed by Dasoju Sravan Kumar, chief spokesman of Telangana Pradesh Congress committee, challenging the decision of the State government to close the government website where all the government orders (GOs), barring confidential ones, were uploaded in public domain.
Petitioner’s counsel R.Raghunandan pointed out that all the GOs were being put in the public domain for over a decade to ensure transparency and good governance. As for the AP government, the GOs’ website has been functioning as usual but the Telangana government shut down the GOs’ website in February this year. On an earlier occasion, the judge had directed the Telangana government to furnish details about the time required to restore the GOs’ website in public domain.
On Thursday, the government counsel told the judge that the government had taken steps to restore the website in 3 weeks’ time.
After recording the statement of the government counsel, the judge adjourned the case to April 28.
